1. initiate的基本意思是“开始(执行某一标准)”,指从此进入一个新的状态。引申可表示为“介绍”,即正式介绍某人参加某个组织、会道门等,还可表示“传授”,即使某人熟悉、了解某种知识或技术。
2. initiate只用作及物动词,接名词或代词作宾语。与介词into连用时,意思是“介绍…给某人”“传授”,其目的是使某人进入另一个环境〔状态〕。
